Vacuum cleaner does not start
It may be hard to believe that this very common problem of a vacuum failing to start most often root from our carelessness. If your vacuum cleaner does not start, it is unlikely that it has been damaged. What is likely is that you have forgotten something along the way. Check the plug and make sure it is plugged in tightly to the wall outlet.
If you see that it has not been plugged in or has been plugged in but rather loosely, do yourself a favor and turn off the vacuum machine before you attempt to fix the connection. After turning it off, remove the plug from the wall and then replace it very tightly. Once you are sure the plug has been secured, turn the vacuum on and then resume cleaning.
But if you have already did the quick fix above and the vacuum still refuses to run, turn the machine off again. Pull out the plug from the socket in the wall and then carefully inspect the plug and the power cord. It may have been damaged or frayed because of some reckless cleaning in the past. In this case, you may need to buy a new cord, but consult with a professional first.
Vacuum cleaner does not well, clean
Poor suction is the main reason why your vacuum appliance has difficulty in picking up dust and dirt from surfaces. Do not worry; most of the time it does not even require some fixing and the solution is a no-brainer. The most probable cause of this problem is that the dust bag or the compartment is already full. The compartment then needs to be emptied while the bag will need to be replaced.
After doing the things above, resume cleaning and see what happens. If it still refuses to suck up dirt, inspect the pipes for obstructions and blockages caused by stuck dust and dirt. Turn the machine off and clean the pipes to remove the obstruction. After that, you may also check the filters and clean them. Filters need to be cleaned regularly, and in some cases, they may need to be replaced.
Also check the pipe if it has some damages, cracks and holes. If this is the case, you may need to replace the hose with another one compatible with your machine. If nothing works, you may have to call professional help because the problem might be caused by some other damaged component inside the vacuum machine, such as the fan.
Vacuum cleaner does not move
A pretty small problem that may cause you great inconvenience. Most of the time though, there is no need to worry when you find your vacuum difficult to move around. The probable reason for this is some problem in the wheels. Check the wheels and if you see that they are cracked and broken, you may need to find a replacement set.
However, more often than not, the wheels do not need to be replaced but only cleaned. They may have difficulties in rolling around because of stuck dirt, dust and other particles. Remove with your hands (or perhaps with the help of a rag) all the obstructions you can see. Hair and yarn are also notorious for blocking the movement of wheels.
The problem may lie with you, too. If you find it difficult to move your vacuum cleaner around, it may have become too bulky for you. If you have the budget for it, invest in a hand held vacuum cleaner that is very portable and easy to carry anywhere you want to go.
